VEDIC MATHS

                           By OMKAR TENDOLKAR

Hello friends,

This is our tenth blog from the series of "Vedic maths" blogs. Here in this blog we will learn about "squaring of numbers ending with '5'".

 Square:

Squaring is multiplying a number by itself.

Let us have a look at how to square number ending with 5.

 For example:

 1) Find the square of 65

            65
        ×  65
       ---------
        4225
  • In 65, the number apart from 5 is 6.
  • After 6 comes 7. So, we multiply 6 by 7 and write down the answer 42.
  • Next we multiply the last digits, viz.(5×5) and write down 25 to the right of 42 and complete our multiplication.
  • Our answer is 4225.
 Answer:
 65 × 65 = 4225.

 2) Find the square of 75

            75
        ×  75
       ---------
        5625
  • In 75, the number apart from 5 is 7.
  • After 7 comes 8. So, we multiply 7 by 8 and write down the answer 56.
  • Next we multiply the last digits, viz.(5×5) and write down 25 to the right of 56 and complete our multiplication.
  • Our answer is 5625.
 Answer:
 75 ×75 = 5625.

 3)Find the square of 105

           105
        × 105
        ---------
        11025
  • In 105, the number apart from 5 is 10.
  • After 10 comes 11. So, we multiply 10 by 11 and write down the answer 110.
  • Next we multiply the last digits, viz.(5×5) and write down 25 to the right of 110 and complete our multiplication.
  • Our answer is 11025.

 Answer:
 105 × 105 = 11025.

So you can see how simple it is to   square number ending with five! In fact   you can mentally calculate the square of a number ending with a 5. Just multiply the non-five numbers with the next number and then multiply the last digits (5 × 5) and add 25 after it.

More examples:
  1. (15)^2=225
  2. (25)^2=625
  3. (35)^2=1225
  4. (45)^2=2025
  5. (55)^2=3025
The simplicity of this method can be vouched from examples given above.

You may try following example:

1. (65)^2

2. (75)^2

3. (85)^2

You may answer this in comment box. You may ask your any query or doubt in comment box. I will try to resolve as early as possible.

In next blog we will discuss about "multiplications of numbers whose last digits add to 10 and the remaining digits should be the same".
Are you excited for this?...
Then, please wait for it.
I will post my new blog in next week.

We will meet very soon through our next blog. Till that stay connected, stay healthy and stay safe.

Thanks

for giving your valuable time.

Good day😊.
