VEDIC MATHS

                           By OMKAR TENDOLKAR

Hello friends,

This is our fourth blog in the series of "Vedic maths" blogs. In this blog, we will learn about "special multiplications".

Here, we will delve into the "multiplication of numbers with series of 9'sin Vedic maths..Using the method given below, we can instantly multiply any number by 99, 999, 9999, 99999, etc.

This technique is divided into three cases. In the first case, we will be multiplying a given number by an equal number of nines. In the second case, we will multiply a number by a lower number of nines. In the third case, we will be multiplying a number by a higher number of nines.

Special multiplication:

Multiply numbers with a series of 9's

Case 1:

Case 1 was already discussed in the previous blog. If you missed it, please visit "VEDIC MATHS-2".

Case 2:

Case 2 was already discussed in the previous blog. If you missed it, please visit "VEDIC MATHS-3".

Case 3 :

(Multiplying a number with a higher number of nines)

Rules:
  1. Make equal digits by adding 0.
  2. Subtract 1.
  3. Write complement (Deduct all digits from 9 and the last from 10).
  4. Confirm that the number of digits is less than the number of nines in the multiplier.
For example:
45 × 999 = ? Multiply 45 by 999. Since, (multiplicand digit < multiplier digit) hence,
it falls under the third case.

  • There are three nines in the multiplier. However, the multiplicand 45 has only two digits. So we add zero and convert 45 to 045 making it a three-digit number. After doing so, we can proceed with the procedure explained in  case 1.
  • First, we subtract 1 from 045, writing it down as 044. Next, we subtract each of the digits of 045 from 9, and the last digit from 10. Thus, we write the answer as 955.
  • The complete answer is 044955.

Answer:
45 × 999 = 044955.

More examples:
  1. 5×99=495
  2. 56×999=55944
  3. 652×9999=6519348
  4. 5642×99999=564194358
  5. 48592×99999=4859151408
The simplicity of this method can be seen from the examples given above.

You may try the following example:

1. 77 × 999

2. 654 × 9999

3. 9090 × 99999

Feel free to answer in the comment box. You may also ask any questions or share doubts in the comment box, and I will try to resolve them as soon as possible.

In the next blog, we will discuss multiplications of a number with a series of 1's.
Are you excited for this?...
Then, please wait for it.
I will post my new blog next week.
We will meet very soon through our next blog. Until then, stay connected, stay healthy, and stay safe.

Thanks for giving your valuable time.

Good day 😊.
