VEDIC MATHS

                           By OMKAR TENDOLKAR

Hello friends,

This is  post number 112 from the series of "Vedic maths" blogs. Here in this blog we will learn about "Applications of the Sutras & Sub-sutras - 12"

VEDIC MATHEMATIC :

"VEDIC MATHEMATICS" is the name given to the ancient system of mathematics, or, to be precise, a unique technique of calculations based on simple rules and principles, with which any mathematical problem be it arithmetic, algebra, geometry or trigonometry can be solved, hold your breath, orally!
What we call "Vedic Mathematics" is a mathematical elaboration of 'Sixteen Simple Mathematical formulae from the Vedas' as brought out by Sri Bharati Krishna Tirthaji.

Sub-Sutras:

The system is based on 13 Vedic sutras or aphorisms, which are actually word formulae describing natural ways of solving a whole range of problems.
Some examples of sutras are "Anurupyena", "Antyayor Desakepi", and "Antyayoreva". These 13 one-line formulae originally written in Sanskrit, which can be easily memorized, enables one to solve long mathematical problems quickly.

7. Vilokanam ( By mere observation )
Generally, we come across problems that can be solved by mere observation. But we follow the same conventional procedure and obtain the solution. But the hint behind the Sutra enables us to observe the problem completely and find the pattern and finally solve the problem by just observation.
Example:
i. x + 1/x = 5/2
   x + 1/x = 2 + 1/2
Hence, x = 2 and 1/x = 1/2

8. Gunitahsamuccayah Samuccayagunitah
For the quadratic equation, in order to verify the result, the product of the sum of the coefficients of ‘x’ in the factors is equal to the sum of the coefficients of ‘x’ in the product.

Example:

i) (x + 3) (x + 2) = x² + 5x + 6
       (1+3) (1+2) = 1 + 5 + 6
                     12 = 12 ; thus verified.

ii) (x – 4) (2x + 5) = 2x² – 3x – 20
      (1 – 4) (2 + 5) = 2 – 3 – 20
                      - 21 = - 21 ; thus verified.

In next blog we will discuss about "Applications of the Sutras & Sub-sutras - 13".

Are you excited for this?...
Then, please wait for it.
I will post my new blog in next week.

We will meet very soon through our next  blog. Till that stay connected, stay healthy and stay safe.

Thanks

for giving your valuable time.

Good day😊
