VEDIC MATHS

                           By OMKAR TENDOLKAR

Hello friends,

This is our 12th blog from the series of "Vedic maths" blogs. Here in this blog we will learn about "squaring of numbers between 50 and 60".

Square:

Squaring is multiplying a number by itself.

Reference :

We had already learn about "Squaring of numbers ending with 5" our previous blog. If you have missed my last blog then please visit "VEDIC MATHS-10".

We had already learn about "multiplications of numbers whose last digits add to 10 and the remaining digits should be the same" in our previous blog. If you have missed my last blog then please visit "VEDIC MATHS-11".

Squaring of numbers between 50 and 60:

Here in this blog we will discuss related to squaring. It is used to square numbers that lies between 50 and 60.

            57        56          52        53
         × 57     × 56       × 52     × 53
        --------- ----------  ---------  --------

We have taken four different examples above. We will be squaring the numbers 57, 56, 52 and 53 respectively.

Rules:
  1. Add 25 to the digit in the units place and put it as the left-hand part of answers.
  2. Square the digits in the units place and put it as the right-hand part of the answer.( If it is a single digits then convert it to two digits)

 For example:

 1) Find the square of 57

            57
        ×  57
       ---------
        3249
  • In the first example we have to square 57. In this case we add 25 to the digit in the units place, viz., 7. The answer is 32 which is the LHS (left hand side) of our answer. (Answer at this stage is 32___)
  • Next, we square the digit in the units place '7' and get answer as 49. This 49 we put as the right hand part of our answer. The complete answer is 3249.
 Answer:
 57 × 57 = 3249.

 2) Find the square of 56

            56
        ×  56
        ---------
         3136
  • In the second example, we add 25 to 6 and get the LHS as 31. Next, we square 6 and get the answer 36 which we put on RHS.
  • The complete answer is 3136.

 Answer:
 56 × 56 = 3136.

 3) Find the square of 53

              53
         ×   53
         ---------
          2809
  • In the last example, we add 3 to 25 and get the answer 28. Next, we square 3 and get the answer 9. As mentioned in rule 2, the answer on the RHS should be converted to two digits. Thus, we represent the digit 9 as 09.
  • The complete answer is 2809.

 Answer:
 53 × 53 = 2809.

More examples:
  1. (51)^2=2601
  2. (52)^2=2704
  3. (54)^2=2916

The simplicity of this method can be vouched from examples given above.

You may try following example:

1. (55)^2

2. (58)^2

3. (59)^2

You may answer this in comment box. You may ask your any query or doubt in comment box. I will try to resolve as early as possible.

In next blog we will discuss about "subtraction using the rule ''All from 9 and last from 10"".
Are you excited for this?...
Then, please wait for it.
I will post my new blog in next week.

We will meet very soon through our next blog. Till that stay connected, stay healthy and stay safe.

Thanks

for giving your valuable time.

Good day😊.
