VEDIC MATHS

                           By OMKAR TENDOLKAR

Hello friends,

This is our sixth blog from the series of "Vedic maths" blogs. Here in this blog we will learn about "special multiplications".

Here in this blog we will learn about "multiplication of numbers with series of 1's" in Vedic maths. Using the method given below we can instantly multiply any number with 11, 111, 1111, 11111, etc.

This technique is divided into two case. In the first case, will will multiplying a given 2-digits number with equal 11. In the second case, we will multiplying a given higher digits  number with 111, 1111, 11111 etc. By dot sandwich method.

Special multiplication:

Multiplication of numbers with a series of 1's

Case 1:

Case 1 was already discussed in previous blog. If you have missed my last blog then please visit "VEDIC MATHS-5".

Case 2 :

In case 2 we will multiplying a given higher digits  number with 111, 1111, 11111 etc. By dot sandwich method.

But now in this blog we will learn only about multiplying a number with 111.

Rules:
  1. Check whether multiplier is 111.
  2. Dot sandwich
  3. Take sum of 3 digits
  4. Start from right
For example:
34 × 111 = ?
Multiply 34 by 111
Since,
Multiplier is 111
hence,
it is of second case

  • Check whether multiplier is 111
  • 34 * 111 since multiplier is 3 digit number, hence  place two •• on both side of 34 like ••34••
  • We move to left from right and add 3 digits. Here, takes • as 0 then after each addition move to left by one digit
  1. (4+0+0)=4
  2. (3+4+0)=7
  3. (0+3+4)=7
  4. (0+0+3)=3
  • The complete answer is 3774

Answer:
34 × 111 = 3744

More examples:
  1. 8×111=888
  2. 42×111=4662
  3. 532×111=59052
  4. 7512×111=833832
  5. 59947×111=6654117

The simplicity of this method can be vouched from examples given above.

You may try following example:

1. 22 × 111

2. 342 × 111

3. 7645 × 111

You may answer this in comment box. You may ask your any query or doubt in comment box. I will try to resolve as early as possible.

In next blog we will discuss about multiplications of a number with a series of 1's with higher number one's i.e how to apply dot sandwich method in case of 1111 as a multiplier.
Are you excited for this?...
Then, please wait for it.
I will post my new blog in next week.

We will meet very soon through our next blog. Till that stay connected, stay healthy and stay safe.

Thanks

for giving your valuable time.

Good day😊.
