VEDIC MATHS

                           By OMKAR TENDOLKAR

Hello friends,

This is  post number 46 from the series of "Vedic maths" blogs. Here in this blog we will learn about "Base Method of Division part-3"

The base method of division is having large contribution in Vedic Mathematics. The name Base method is given by Vedic Mathematics in western countries.

The study of division is divided in two parts. In this post we will study the Base Method and in the next blogs we will study the Paravartya Method of division.

We have seen the applications of the Base Method in multiplication and squaring of numbers in previous blogs. In this method we use power of ten as a base and then calculate the difference between the base and the given number. The same concept will be used for division.

Reference:

We had already learn about "Base Method of Division part-1" our previous blog. If you have missed my last blog then please visit "VEDIC MATHS-44".

We had already learn about "Base Method of Division part-2" our previous blog. If you have missed my last blog then please visit "VEDIC MATHS-45".

Examples:

1.Divide 2122 by 97

100

97         2 1 | 2 2
03            0 | 6
                   | 0 3
                   |
           ----------------
             2 1 | 8 5

  1. We bring down the first digit of the dividend 2.
  2. 2 multiplied by the difference 03 gives 06 which is written just below the second digit of the dividend.
  3. We now add 1 plus 0 downwards and get the second digit of the quotient as 1.
  4. We now multiply 1 with 03 and get the answer 03, which is written below the third digit of the dividend.
  5. The quotient is 21 and the remainder (obtained by adding up the values in RHS) is 85.
Answer:
2122 divided by 97
quotient is 21
remainder is 85.

2. Divide 12311111 by 95

100

95        1 2 3 1 1 1 | 1 1

05           0 5          |

                  1 0       |

                     4 5    |

                        2 5 |

                           4 | 5

        ---------------------------

            1 2 9 5 9 0 | 6 1

Answer:

12311111 divided by 95
quotient is 129590
remainder is 61.

3. Divide 3010101 by 888899

1000000

888899         3 | 0 1 0 1 0 1
111101             | 3 3 3 3 0 3
                        |
                        |
                 ---------------------------
                     3 | 3 4 3 4 0 4

Answer:
3010101 divided by 888899
quotient is 3
remainder is 343404.

4. Divide 2211 by 88

100

88                  2 2 | 1 1
12                     2 | 4
                            | 4 8
                            |
                   --------------------
                      2 4 | 9 9
                   = 2 5 | 1 1

Answer:
2211 divided by 88
quotient is 25
remainder is 11.

Find Division of following:

  1. 212245 / 97, then quotient is 2188 and remainder is 9.
  2. 1011334 / 99998, then quotient is 10 and remainder is 11354.
  3. 10050 / 999, then quotient is 10 and remainder is 60.
The simplicity of this method can be vouched from examples given above.

You may try following example:

Find Division of followings

1. Divide 12000 by 889

2. Divide 111099 by 8987

3. Divide 30111 by 87

You may answer this in comment box. You may ask your any query or doubt in comment box. I will try to resolve as early as possible.

In next blog we will discuss about "Example of (Division part-B)".

Are you excited for this?...
Then, please wait for it.
I will post my new blog in next week.

We will meet very soon through our next  blog. Till that stay connected, stay healthy and stay safe.

Thanks

for giving your valuable time.

Good day😊.
