VEDIC MATHS

                           By OMKAR TENDOLKAR

Hello friends,

This is our eighth blog from the series of "Vedic maths" blogs. Here in this blog we will learn about "special multiplications".

Here in this blog we will learn about "Multiplication of numbers with series of similar digits in multiplier" in Vedic maths. Using the method given below we can instantly multiply any number with 222, 333, 444, 555, etc

Special multiplication:

Multiplication of numbers with a series of similar digit's in multiplier.

Reference :

We had already learn about multiplying a number with series of 9's In our previous blog. If you have missed my last blog then please visit "VEDIC MATHS-3", "VEDIC MATHS-4" and "VEDIC MATHS-5".

We had already learn about multiplying a number with series of 1's In our previous blog. If you have missed my last blog then please visit "VEDIC MATHS-6" and "VEDIC MATHS-7".

Multiplication of numbers with a series of similar digit's in multiplier:

This technique is basically an extension of the previous technique. In previous blog we saw how to multiply a number with series of nine's and in some how to multiply a number with series of one's.

A question may arises regarding how to multiply numbers with series of 2's, like 2222, or with a series of 3's, like 3333, and such other numbers.

Let us have a look at a few example:

Example:

1) Multiply 333 by 222

The question asks us to multiply 333 by 222. Now, carefully observe the logic that we apply in this case

     333 × 222
=   333 × 2 × 111
     ( Because 222 is 2 multiplied by 111)
=   666 × 111
     ( Because 333 multiplied by 2 is 666)

Therefore, multiplication of 333 by 222 the  is same as multiplication of 666 by  111. But we have already studied the procedure of multiplying a number by 111 in the previous blogs. Our answer will be as follows:

      666
  ×  111
------------
  73926

Therefore, 333 × 222 is 73926.

Answer:
333 × 222 = 73926

2) Multiply 3021 by 333

The multiplicand is normal number and the multiplier is a series of 3's. We do not know how to multiply a number with a series of  3's but we know how to apply  a number with series of 1's. Thus, we will represent the expression in such a manner that multiplier is 111.

     3021 × 333
=   3021 × 3 × 111
     ( Because 333 is same as 3 into 111)
=   9063 × 111
     ( Because 3021 into 3 is 9063)

Therefore, multiplication of 3021 by 333 the is same as multiplication of 9063 by 111. But we have already studied the procedure of multiplying a number by 111 in the previous blogs. Our answer will be as follows:

      9063
  ×    111
--------------
1005993

Therefore, 9063 × 111 is 1005993

Answer:
3021 × 333 = 1005993

On the basis of above examples, it can be seen that there is no need of explaining the procedure of multiplication. The procedure is same as observed in the previous blog. Basically, we have to convert series of 2's, 3's and 4's etc. In the multiplier to series of 1's by dividing it by a certain number. Next, we have to multiply the multiplicand by the same number.

More examples:
  1. 120×333=39960
  2. 2008×555=1114440
  3. 5332×7777=41466964
  4. 7512×88888=667726656
  5. 5994×44444=266397336

The simplicity of this method can be vouched from examples given above.

Using the same method, we can multiply any number by a series of similar digit's in multiplier.

You may try following example:

1. 22 × 333

2. 342 × 4444

3. 7645 × 77777

You may answer this in comment box. You may ask your any query or doubt in comment box. I will try to resolve as early as possible.

In next blog we will discuss about multiplying by 12 shortcut.
Are you excited for this?...
Then, please wait for it.
I will post my new blog in next week.

We will meet very soon through our next blog. Till that stay connected, stay healthy and stay safe.

Thanks

for giving your valuable time.

Good day😊.
