VEDIC MATHS
By OMKAR TENDOLKAR
Hello friends,
This is our eighth blog from the series of "Vedic maths" blogs. Here in this blog we will learn about "special multiplications".
Here in this blog we will learn about "multiplying by 12 shortcut." in Vedic maths. Using the method given below we can instantly multiply any number between 12 - 19.
Special multiplication:
Multiplication of numbers with multiplier by using some tricks or shortcut.
Reference :
We had already learn about multiplying a number with series of 9's In our previous blog. If you have missed my last blog then please visit "VEDIC MATHS-3", "VEDIC MATHS-4" and "VEDIC MATHS-5".
We had already learn only about multiplying a number with series of 1's In our previous blog. If you have missed my last blog then please visit "VEDIC MATHS-6" and "VEDIC MATHS-7".
We had also already learn about multiplying a number with series of similar digit's in multiplier In our previous blog. If you have missed my last blog then please visit "VEDIC MATHS-8".
Multiplication of numbers with 12:
So how does the 12's shortcut works?
Let's take a look.
Example:
1) 12 × 7
The first thing is to always multiply the 1 of twelve by the number we are multiplying by. In this case 7. So 1 × 7 = 7.
Multiply this 7 by 10 giving 70.
Now multiply the 7 by the 2 of twelve giving 14. Add this to 70 giving 84.
Therefore 7 × 12 = 84.
Answer:
07 × 12 = 84
Let's try another:
2) Multiply 17 × 12
Remember, multiply the 17 by 1 in 12 and multiply by 10 (Just add a zero to the end):
1 × 17 = 17, multiplied by 10 giving 170.
Multiply 17 by 2 giving 34.
Add 34 to 170 giving 204.
So, 17 × 12 = 204.
Answer:
17 × 12 = 204.
Let's go one more
3) 24 × 12
Multiply 24 × 1 = 24. Multiply by 10 giving 240.
Multiply 24 by 2 = 48. Add to 240 giving us 288.
24 × 12 = 288
(these are seriously simple sums to do aren't they?!)
On the basis of above examples, it can be seen that there is no need of explaining the procedure of multiplication for others number in between 13 to 19. The procedure is same as observed in these blog as above. Basically, we have to split multiplier as a 10 plus something. First we have to multiply a number by 10 and then we have to multiply by number at unit place of multiplier with multiplicand.
Although it seems to be very simple it will be really helpful in large calculations. It will definitely save your time it may be not directly but indirectly.
Mathematics is a kind of subject where you are completely unaware which trick is to be require to simplify next step. So at that moment you will definitely helpful by such kind of simple tricks.
More examples:
- 12×13=156
- 120×14=1680
- 2008×15=30120
- 53323×16=853168
- 751223×19=14273237
The simplicity of this method can be vouched from examples given above.
Using the same method, we can multiply any number by any number in between 12 to 19.
You may try following example:
1. 22 × 13
2. 342 × 18
3. 7645 × 19
You may answer this in comment box. You may ask your any query or doubt in comment box. I will try to resolve as early as possible.
In next blog we will discuss about "squaring of number ending with 5".
Are you excited for this?...
Then, please wait for it.
I will post my new blog in next week.
We will meet very soon through our next blog. Till that stay connected, stay healthy and stay safe.
Thanks
for giving your valuable time.
Good day😊.
